Field Service Companion is available on the App Store. This article walks you through installing the app on your Apple devices and explains what to expect if you use it on more than one device.
Get it here: Field Service Companion on the App Store
What You Need
- An iPhone or iPad on iOS 14 or later, or a Mac with an Apple silicon chip (M1 or later) on macOS 11 or later.
- Your Apple ID, signed in on the device.
- An internet connection for the first sign-in. After that, the app works fully offline.
Installing on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store on your device.
- Search for Field Service Companion, or open the link above.
- Tap Get and confirm.
- Open the app and sign in with Apple or Google. See Getting Started for what happens after sign-in.
Installing on a Mac
If your Mac has an Apple silicon chip (M1 or later), you can run the same app on your laptop or desktop:
- Open the App Store on your Mac.
- Search for Field Service Companion.
- If it does not appear in the first results, click the iPhone & iPad Apps tab on the search results page.
- Click Get and confirm.
The Mac version is the same app with the same features and the same privacy protections.
Using More Than One Device
You are welcome to install Field Service Companion on your phone, your tablet, and your Mac. One thing to know:
Each device keeps its own records for now. A contact you add on your iPhone will not automatically appear on your iPad. Syncing between devices is planned for a future release.
>
Until then, you can move your records from one device to another with a backup file — see Backup and Restore.
Keeping the App Updated
When automatic updates are turned on (they usually are), the App Store updates Field Service Companion the same way it updates your other apps. We recommend leaving automatic updates on so you always have the latest improvements.
For Invited Beta Testers
Some friends help us test early versions before they are released. If you have been invited, you will receive an email from Apple titled "You've been invited to test Field Service Companion."
- Install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store.
- Open the invitation email on your iPhone or iPad and tap View in TestFlight, then Accept and Install.
- TestFlight versions expire after 90 days — when TestFlight offers you an Update, accept it. Your records are not affected.
A few things to know about testing:
- The TestFlight version is the same code as the App Store version, with the same privacy and encryption (Privacy and Your Data). Apple's TestFlight shares limited tester information with us — your email address and aggregate information such as installs, sessions, and crash reports. We never see your contacts, your visits, or anything you write in the app.
- Stop Testing in TestFlight ends your access to test versions. If you later delete the app from your device, its local data is erased with it — so if you want to keep your contacts and visits, create a backup first (Backup and Restore).
If you would like to help test, email support@returnvisits.org.
