Coming soon: The Study Report Helper described in this article is planned for the next update (v1.9.0). This article is published early so you know what to expect. You'll be able to use this feature once the update is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Since November 2023, the only number congregation publishers report each month is the count of different Bible studies conducted. Field Service Companion helps you determine that number.
What Field Service Companion Does — and Does Not Do
Field Service Companion does not generate or submit a field service report. It does not track hours, placements, return visits, or any other statistics.
What it does do is help you figure out your Bible study count for the month — because it already knows which contacts you are studying with and when you last visited them.
Using the Study Report Helper
Starting on the 1st of each month, a "Prepare your report" card appears in the "Your month" section of your Dashboard.
- Tap Prepare your report.
- A list appears showing all contacts who are marked as Studying or Studying Regularly and who had at least one visit during the month.
- Each contact has a toggle: "Count as a study this month?" It defaults to Yes for contacts you visited.
- Review the list. If you are unsure about a particular study, a help text is provided to guide you.
- Tap Done. The final screen shows: "You conducted N Bible studies this month."
- Tap the Copy button to copy the number to your clipboard.
- Use the number however you normally submit your report — paste it into an app, tell your group overseer, or write it on your form.
When Is a Study Counted?
If you are unsure whether to count a study, the app provides a brief guideline: A Bible study can be reported if you have conducted it at least twice and have reason to believe it will continue.
For a more detailed explanation, see the article "How to Conduct a Bible Study That Leads to Baptism — Part One" in The Watchtower, October 2020, available in JW Library.
Privacy
No data leaves your device during this process. The study report helper is a read-only summary of contacts and visits already stored on your phone. No report is generated, transmitted, or stored.
Submitting Your Report
Field Service Companion helps you determine your Bible study count — but it does not submit your report for you. Submit your report however you normally would, whether that is through an app, a paper form, or by speaking with your group overseer.
