A debug report is a small text file that contains technical information about how the app has been running on your device. It helps us diagnose problems and improve Field Service Companion.
What Is Included
The debug report contains:
- App information — the version and build number of Field Service Companion installed on your device.
- Device information — your phone model, operating system version, screen size, and language setting.
- A log of recent app events — such as which screens were opened, whether a backup was attempted, or whether the map had trouble looking up an address.
- Error details — if something went wrong, the report includes a technical description of the error.
What Is NOT Included
The debug report never contains any of your personal information. Specifically, it does not include:
- Contact names, phone numbers, or addresses.
- Visit notes or anything you have written.
- Photos or attachments.
- Your name, email address, or account details.
- Your location.
The diagnostic log is stored separately from your encrypted data and contains no personal content of any kind.
How It Works
Field Service Companion keeps a small log of the most recent 500 app events on your device. This log runs continuously in the background, similar to how a car's dashboard records basic operating data.
When you share a debug report, the app formats this log as a plain text file and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where to send it. The app itself does not transmit the report — you are always in control of where it goes.
What to Expect After Sending
After you send a debug report to us at support@returnvisits.org, our team will review the technical details to understand the problem. We may contact you for additional information if needed. The report helps us reproduce the issue and include a fix in a future update.
Debug reports are used solely for troubleshooting. They are never shared with third parties, used for marketing, or connected to your identity.
