If something in Field Service Companion is not working as expected, you can share a debug report with us. This helps us understand what happened and fix the problem.
Try a Self-Check First
Before sending a report, give the app a quick clean bill of health:
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Tap Run integrity check now.
- Wait a moment. You'll see either "Database is healthy ✓" or a note that the app will repair itself on next launch.
If the check passes and the problem you're seeing is still happening, the issue is most likely something we can debug from a report rather than a damaged file. Continue with the steps below.
How to Send a Debug Report
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Tap Share debug report.
- The app prepares a diagnostic file and opens your phone's share sheet.
- Choose how you want to send it — for example, email it to support@returnvisits.org.
That's all you need to do. The report gives us the information we need to investigate the problem.
What's in a debug report? App events, error codes, navigation history, and device information. Never your contacts, visit notes, addresses, phone numbers, emails, or any personal content. See What is a Debug Report for the full picture.
If the App Crashed
If the app closed unexpectedly, the next time you open it the report is sent automatically (assuming you haven't turned off "Send diagnostic data" in Settings). You don't need to do anything.
You can change this default at any time:
- Settings → Send diagnostic data (toggle) — when off, the next launch after a crash shows a quiet prompt asking whether you'd like to share what happened, instead of sending automatically.
What to Include in Your Message
When you email the debug report, it helps if you also describe the problem briefly. For example:
- What you were doing when the problem occurred.
- Screenshots of the screen you were on, and any error messages.
- What you expected to happen.
- What actually happened.
Even a short description — such as "The app closed when I tried to save a visit" — helps us locate the issue faster.
