Field Service Companion is available on Google Play. This article walks you through installing the app on your Android devices and explains what to expect if you use it on more than one device.

What You Need
- An Android phone or tablet on Android 8 or later. (Most devices from the last several years qualify. To check: Settings → About phone → Android version.)
- Your Google account, signed into the Play Store on the device.
- An internet connection for the first sign-in. After that, the app works fully offline.
Installing from Google Play
- Open the Play Store on your device.
- Search for Field Service Companion, or open the link above.
- Tap Install.
- Open the app and sign in with Apple or Google. See Getting Started for what happens after sign-in.
Chromebooks and Tablets
Field Service Companion works on Android tablets as well as phones. If you have a Chromebook that supports apps from Google Play, you can install Field Service Companion on it the same way — open the Play Store on the Chromebook and follow the steps above.
Using More Than One Device
You are welcome to install Field Service Companion on your phone, your tablet, and your Chromebook. One thing to know:
Each device keeps its own records for now. A contact you add on your phone will not automatically appear on your tablet. Syncing between devices is planned for a future release.
>
Until then, you can move your records from one device to another with a backup file — see Backup and Restore.
Keeping the App Updated
When automatic updates are turned on (they usually are), the Play Store updates Field Service Companion the same way it updates your other apps. We recommend leaving automatic updates on so you always have the latest improvements.
For Invited Beta Testers
Some friends help us test early versions before they are released. If you have been invited to our testing program, you will receive an opt-in link by email:
- Open the link on the Android device you intend to use, signed into the same Google account you gave us.
- Tap Become a tester, then install the app from the Play Store as usual.
A few things to know about testing:
- The testing version is the same code as the public version, with the same privacy and encryption (Privacy and Your Data). Google Play shares limited tester information with us — the email address we added to the testing list and aggregate install and crash statistics. We never see your contacts, your visits, or anything you write in the app.
- Leave the program (on the opt-in page) stops you from receiving test versions — the app itself stays on your device. If you later uninstall the app, its local data is erased with it — so if you want to keep your contacts and visits, create a backup first (Backup and Restore).
If you would like to help test, email support@returnvisits.org.
Need More Help?
If something does not work as expected during installation, please email support@returnvisits.org with a brief description of what you are seeing. A friend who is familiar with Field Service Companion may also be able to help.
